San Francisco updates Fair Chance Ordinance (FCO) Notice/Poster
The updated poster reflects recent amendments to the FCO.
Employers must provide applicants and employees with the updated FCO Notice prior to conducting a background check and prior to any conviction history inquiry (which includes unresolved arrests).
Employers must post the updated FCO Notice in a conspicuous location at every workplace, job site, or other area in San Francisco under the employer's control that is frequently visited by their employees or applicants. Employers may comply with this requirement by posting the notice in the employee break room or on the company notice board, for example. Employees and applicants must be able to readily access this notice.
Employers must also post this notice in English, Spanish, Chinese, and any language spoken by at least five percent of the employees at the workplace, job site, or other location at which it is posted.
The updated poster can be found here.
